This is because the block paving is porous, and the sand within the jointing sand holds moisture. This enables moss, weeds, algae and lichen to form on most driveways or patios, particularly those that are North facing and shady areas. Sealing your driveway or patio creates a non porous resin barrier, this will waterproof the block paving, stabilise the jointing sand and greatly reduce colour loss from UV light.
